Ellijay, Georgia

In her own words

What does a cabin here usually cost?

Ellijay tends to give you a little more cabin for the money than Blue Ridge, and the river frontage on the Cartecay is its own thing. Orchard country to the east has a different feel again, more open and rolling. Tell me what you're picturing and I'll pull the recent sales that match it.

Do cabins here rent well?

Apple season fills the town every fall, and the river draws people the rest of the year, so a cabin with something to offer rents. Gilmer County has its own rules for short-term rentals, and some neighborhoods add their own, so I read both before we count on the income.

What should I know about mountain roads?

A lot of Ellijay's best cabins are on gravel, and some of it climbs. Ask who maintains the road and what it costs, and drive it after rain. If you'll be here on winter weekends, I'll point out the roads that ice first.
